Down Syndrome Association of Houston
The Down Syndrome Association of Houston has been serving individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the members of the Great Houston community who serve them since 1974. It is our mission to provide lifelong education, support, and resources to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the communities they live within. Join us as we create a Greater Houston where individuals with Down syndrome are included more and empowered to fulfill their personal goals and aspirations.
Join us as Paola Jimenez Rodriguez, with Maximus Inc, talks to us about the STAR Kids Program. It is a Texas Medicaid managed program that provides Medicaid benefits, to children and adults 20 and younger who have disabilities. Click to see registration instructions.
Eximius Coffee Supports the Down Syndrome Community
While looking for donors to help support the Houston Buddy Walk, I stumbled upon Aldecoa Coffee. Their roots in the coffee industry date back to the 1920’s in Spain by Carlos de Aldecoa Fernandez (Ronda, Malaga 1903) He later expanded operations to the fertile lands of Veracruz, Mexico where the business grew to include coffee farms, roasting, retailing and decaffeination. After significant growth and demand, the operations moved to Houston, Texas where Aldecoa produces its coffee. Our artful roasting process has been passed down for four generations since our first batch of coffee was roasted in Spain. As of September 2019, they are proud to present “Nina” in honor of the youngest member of the de Aldecoa family. 100% of the profits from this product will be contributed to the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. I would like to thank the de Aledcoa family for their support of the Houston Buddy Walk as well as the Down syndrome community! - Kat Director of Events and Marketing
