Our Story
The Down Syndrome Association of Houston has been serving individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the members of the Greater Houston community who serve them since 1974. Join us as we create a Greater Houston where individuals with Down syndrome are included more and empowered to fulfill their personal goals and aspirations.
DSAH was founded in 1974 when there was very little information about Down syndrome and little to no support for family members. In response, a group of caring mothers decided that Houston needed an organization to support families with children with Ds.

New
resources and opportunities for our community groups.
Starting this fall, DSAH will be providing new opportunities for our community group members to learn and have fun. The idea is these activities can be tried, and then if successful, replicated throughout our service area. On September 16th we will be holding a soccer clinic in Southwest Houston; on September 23rd an interactive art class in Pearland; in October a service-learning opportunity at a WHAM food drive; and in January national author Steve Friedman will be giving a talk on the path to independence for family members with Down syndrome. If you are interested in bringing these or other activities to your community, please e-mail Mike at mroberts@dsah.org
