Glenn Urbach - Executive Director

Glenn Urbach comes to the Down Syndrome Association of Houston with over 25 years of professional experience working with individuals from all ages and backgrounds with the last 13 years serving as an executive director for several Houston-area non-profit organizations. For over seven years, Glenn served as a court-appointed legal guardian for adults including those living with down syndrome. In 2001, Glenn began his career in management first serving as the Transportation Director for Harris County for six years. In that time, Glenn was able to secure a number of local, state, and federal grants thereby growing his department from 15 staff members to over 50 in five years.

In 2007, Glenn began his second career serving as a non-profit executive director for three Houston-based non-profit organizations and one Galveston-based non-profit organization. In that time, Glenn has managed annual budgets, has served on a number of non-profit boards and advisory committees.

Glenn holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Work from Texas Tech Univesity and the University of Houston, respectively. He is the proud parent of Aidan, Alaina, and his cat Little Girl.

Kathleen Doveno - Director of Events and Marketing

Kathleen comes to us after working for 15 years at HEB working as a Community Coordinator and a variety of other positions. She also worked for 4 years with Cox Media Group, on the promotions team. She has a B.A. degree from the University of Houston in Communications, her focus being on Public Relations. James, Kathleen’s brother in law, is responsible for her passion for educating and helping individuals with Down syndrome. Kathleen and her husband Thomas have 2 furbabies and love just spending family time together. Kathleen also loves to volunteer with the Houston Rodeo, she has been on the Directions and Assistance Committee for 6 years. She likes to live by the quote “Strong people stand up for themselves, Stronger people stand up for others.”— Chris Gardner

Shalom Miranda - Head Instructor - Education for Life

Shalom is currently a student at the University of Houston and majoring in Bilingual Elementary Education. In her free time, she loves to volunteer at her church with the youth, play the cello, and annoy her 3 cats back at home. Her passion in life has always been to serve others and to work with and around people to help them meet their needs. Her favorite part about working at DSAH is that she gets to do that every day and still manage to have a lot of fun with the best people in the world!

Martin Meredith - Bookkeeper

Martin was born & raised in the UK and spent a 40-year career in finance working for McDermott International. After international assignments in the UK, Belgium, USA, France, UAE & Azerbaijan, Martin retired in Houston in 2015. He joined the DSAH Board as Treasurer at the beginning of 2019 and has volunteered as book-keeper since February 2017.

When he is not working at the Resource Center, Martin can be found playing golf, or hanging out with his 3 grandkids.
