Who We Are
Down Syndrome Association of Houston (DSAH) has been serving individuals with Down syndrome and their families since 1974. We began as a small group meeting in the basement of Texas Children’s Hospital – and have now grown into a thriving, multi-faceted program with more than 1,800 members from all over the Houston region. In addition to programs such as Education 4 Life and others at our Resource Center in northwest Houston, we serve families throughout the area with our more localized Community Groups, New Baby Luv Baskets, and others.
Our mission at DSAH is to provide programs and support to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the professionals who serve them, and to create awareness in the community through advocacy, education and interaction with the Houston medical community.
We envision a community in which all people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance the quality of their life, realize their life aspirations, and become accepted as part of our very diverse society. As DSAH has grown, we have gradually developed programs for all age groups.
