WELCOME TO THE HOUSTON BALLET ADAPTIVE DANCE PROGRAM
Houston Ballet is excited to partner with the Down Syndrome Association of Houston and Easter Seals of Greater Houston to offer Adapted Dance, a series of FREE dance classes for children with Down syndrome ages 5-12. This program is modeled on a successful program at Boston Ballet, Adapted Dance is a dance class that emphasizes strength, flexibility and balance while encouraging creative expression and teamwork. Classes will have live percussion accompaniment and will be held at Houston Ballet’s brand new Center for Dance downtown. Each class will have one lead teacher and 3-4 volunteer assistants. In addition, Easter Seals of Greater Houston will provide a Physical Therapist for the program.
Objectives: Our hope is that students in the Adaptive Dance classes:
• Gain strength, flexibility and balance
• Gain deeper awareness of rhythm and musicality;
• Improve motor skill coordination;
• Gain confidence in expressing themselves creatively through movement;
• Demonstrate teamwork when working with a group;
• Have fun!

Girls: Are to wear solid color leotart and shorts
Boys: are to wear a white t-shirt and black bike shorts.
How can I join this program?
Our Houston Ballet Adaptive dance classes are small so that all of the students can have the attention they deserve. We are currently accepting applications for the summer and fall semesters.
If you are interested in taking part of this great program, please fill out the form below. All new students must attend a trial class to see if they are ready for the program as well as be current up to date members of the DSAH.
